Privacy Policy
Ryan Latture built the Celerie app as a free app. Celerie is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.
This page explains what Celerie does with your information. In short: Celerie has no user accounts and no server of its own. The food you log is stored on your device, and — if you have iCloud enabled — in your own private iCloud account, which I cannot access.
The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in the Terms and Conditions, which are accessible from within Celerie, unless otherwise defined here.
What Celerie Stores, and Where
Celerie does not ask you to create an account and does not ask for your name, email address, or any other contact information. What you enter — the foods, meals, recipes, and goals you record — is stored on your device.
If you have iCloud enabled on your device, this information is also synchronised through Apple’s iCloud service so that it is available on your other devices. It is stored in your own private iCloud account, under your Apple ID. I do not operate a server, I do not receive a copy, and I have no ability to read, retrieve, or delete what is stored there. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.
Some of your settings are synchronised the same way, through iCloud, so that your preferences match across your devices.
Information Sent Over the Network
When you search the food database, Celerie sends the text you type to Edamam, the nutrition data provider. Scanning a product barcode sends that barcode number to Edamam in the same way. Edamam returns nutrition information, which Celerie then stores on your device as described above.
Food database requests also include food identifiers, measures, and quantities when nutrition information is requested. Edamam receives connection metadata such as your IP address and may retain request information under its own privacy policy. That policy describes service logging and analytics, as well as broader advertising practices. Celerie does not send an app-specific user identifier or advertising identifier with these requests.
Your logged meals, recipes, custom foods, goals, and daily totals are not automatically sent to me or to Edamam. You can choose to share a custom food or recipe, or copy or share a daily nutrition summary. The daily-summary Shortcuts action returns text on your device; any later action you add determines where that text goes. A destination you select may receive food names, quantities, meal names, dates, and nutrition totals. Its handling of that information is governed by its own privacy policy. Celerie does not automatically send summaries to ChatGPT or any other service.
Edamam is an independent company and its use of the information it receives is governed by its own privacy policy, linked below. I have no control over its practices and assume no responsibility for them.
Camera and Photos
Celerie asks for camera access so that you can scan barcodes and nutrition labels. Nutrition-label recognition is performed entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device text recognition. Photographs and camera images are not uploaded, not transmitted, and not retained by Celerie — only the numbers you confirm are saved, and they are saved on your device.
Analytics, Advertising, and Crash Reporting
Celerie contains no advertising, no analytics service, and no crash-reporting service. It does not track you across apps or websites, and it does not build a profile of you.
Should this ever change — for example, if crash reporting is added in a future version to help diagnose problems — this policy and the app’s App Store privacy information will be updated to describe it before that version is released.
Your Control Over Your Information
Because your information is held on your device and in your own iCloud account, you control it directly. You can delete individual entries, meals, recipes, and custom foods from within Celerie. Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device, and iCloud data can be managed or removed through the iCloud settings on your device or through your Apple ID account.
Since I hold no copy of your information, there is nothing for me to delete on your behalf, and no account for me to close.
Security
I use commercially acceptable means to protect information handled by Celerie. Please be aware, however, that no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed. Information stored in iCloud is protected by Apple’s security measures, and information sent to Edamam is subject to Edamam’s.
Links to Other Sites
This Service may contain links to other sites. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These external sites are not operated by me, and I strongly advise you to review their privacy policies. I have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
Children’s Privacy
Celerie is not directed to children under 13. It does not ask for personal information from anyone, and I do not knowingly receive personal information from children under 13 — I receive no user information at all, as described above. Information a child entered into the app would be held on that child’s device and in that family’s own iCloud account, where a parent or guardian can remove it directly.
If you are a parent or guardian and have a concern about your child’s use of Celerie, please contact me using the address below and I will assist as far as I am able.
Third-party Services
Nutrition data is provided by Edamam. Their privacy policy can be found here: https://www.edamam.com/privacy/
Changes to This Privacy Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes will be posted here, and the effective date below will be updated.
This policy is effective as of 2026-10-02.
